One Man, Two Guvnors + Bar at the End of the Wharf, Walsh Bay

On Friday we got our theatre on and went to see One Man, Two Guvnors

I’d been keen to check out The Bar at the End of the Wharf  and this was just the opportunity i’d been waiting for.

And what can I say but WOW. This is a bar worth getting excited about, and one worth showing off to all your out-of-town visitors. It’s sexy, fresh and sophisticated yet still has that everybody’s welcome vibe that I just love about Australia.

Sadly on this visit time was ticking before ‘curtains up’ so snacks and drinks were few.

We gobbled down the Chorizo with smoked Eggplant dip which was tasty but a little tricky to eat ($12). (The dish doesn’t come with bread, you’ll need to order that as an extra – $4).

One Man, Two Guvnors is slapstick hilarious. If you’ve ever seen Carry On it was like that, but live on stage and with a fantastic skiffle band adding to the pleasure. Ordinarily I can’t handle comedy that’s this hammed up, but the cast are slick and carry it off with aplomb.

Think we’ll be going to the theatre more often. But with more time for pre drinks and dinner at the bar, obviously.

One Man, Two Guvnors is on at the Sydney Theatre Company until May 11, 2013.

You Can find Bar at the End of The Wharf at the end of Pier 4, Hickson Rd
