Sydney weather has been stunning of late. Summer might be gone but the sun ain’t, providing the perfect excuse for a long lunch with friends big and small.
The Duck Inn, Chippendale has a splendid little beer garden for lunch in the sun. It’s never too busy and there’s room for little monsters to stretch their legs.
Inside the pub has been fit out nicely, it’s a bit english gastro pub meets Southern Highlands cafe. It works and it’s highly refreshing to see something a little different in the area.
The menu offers both the classics and more refined fare and the food is generally good but what comes out of the kitchen isn’t always consistent.
For the adults there’s good beers on tap, decent wines and the bar staff are always friendly and make good recommendations.
Pappardelle with Red Wine Braised Ox Tail & Gremolata ($21)
The Duck Inn Beef Burger ($18)
Salt & Pepper Squid with Aioli ($21)
Steak Sandwich ($19)
Everyone was happy with their food, but the chips were soft and soggy. All things combined it was another pleasant day at the Duck Inn – sunshine, laughter though sadly much less to drink than we used to.
You’ll find The Duck Inn at 74 Rose Street, Chippendale 2008
NB The pub also runs special food nights which I’ve been meaning to check out… if you’re heading down see what’s on here.
